This information and statistics I have provided is from WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION at www.squidoo.com It provides various information on depression through statistics and facts that one may like to learn and know in life. I thought that these information was interesting:
- Every forty seconds someone commits suicide somewhere around the world.
- In the year 2000 (a long time ago, but things have only worsened since), 815,000 people lost their lives to suicide — more than double the number of people who die as a direct result of armed conflict every year (306,600).
- For people between the ages of 15 and 44, suicide is the fourth leading cause of death and the sixth leading cause of disability and infirmity worldwide.
- According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, "Combined 2004 and 2005 data indicate that 8.88 percent of youths aged 12 to 17 and 7.65 percent of adults aged 18 or older experienced at least one major depressive episode (MDE) in the past year.
Statistics show that PEOPLE OF ALL AGES ARE DEPRESSED:
- In childhood
- During the teenage years
- In adulthood
- And in old age
Depression interferes with the mind than the body.Failure to stop symptoms that are painful can 't help to recover one' s depression.Pain can't keep a depressed person from regulating and functioning properly. It affects the thought and feeling that are harmful. It increases the chances of suicide and leads to bad results. Depression is linked to pain and misery. Pain interferes with nerve pathways in the neurotransmitter of the brain . Doctors believe that acupuncture, exercise, aromatherapy, mediation, and hypnosis is helpful for this circumstance.Developing new habits will be good in one's life. Example: running/jogging, drawing, mediation, and etc. Excerise leads to better health and a high self esteem in one's life. This will help with the mental state of mind.
